Summary

This job is for a secretary in a U.S.

Full Job Description

Salary range contains multiple steps. In most cases, the salary will be set at the starting point of the range for the grade level qualified for new federal employees.

GS-8: $58,350 to $75,852 This position is also being announced to All U.S. Citizens and Nationals under 26-OHN-12933282-DE through April 28, 2026.

Applicants must have at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level in Federal service.

Qualifying experience is defined as: experience receiving telephone calls and greeting visitors to the office; responding to inquiries and providing general information; producing a variety of written documents utilizing several types of office automation software; entering information into an automated database, screening and distributing incoming mail to appropriate personnel, scheduling and maintaining travel requests/logs, and maintaining management level calendars To be qualified, you must type at least 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.

(A typing test may later be required.) Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)- The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies.

If your agency has notified you in writing that you are a displaced employee eligible for ICTAP consideration, you may receive selection priority if: 1) this vacancy is within your ICTAP eligibility; 2) you apply under the instructions in the announcement; and 3) you are found well-qualified for this vacancy.

If selected for this position you will serve as the Secretary to the Civil Division Chief providing a wide variety of technical and administrative support services.

Typical work assignments include: Exercise exclusive control over the Civil Chief's calendar for all appointments, meetings, engagements, and conferences.

Screen telephone calls and visitors desiring to speak with the Civil Chief.

Review all outgoing correspondence prepared for the Civil Chief's signature such as action documents, case files, legal documents, and reports. Compose a variety of written material.

Make travel arrangements for the Civil Chief. Secure accommodations and maintains contact while the Civil Chief is in travel status and informs him\her of important developments.

Creates and maintains Division administrative files and Civil Chief's case files and assists with case monitoring.

Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.
