Full Job Description

You will serve as a SECRETARY in the Office of the Commanding General of III MARINE EXPEDITIONARY FORCE. ***ACCESS TO MEDICAL AND DENTAL CARE IN JAPAN IS EXTREMELY LIMITED.

GS-08 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: organizing and managing an executive calendar, identifying administrative issues, coordinating administrative work in an office, managing organizational files; planning protocol logistics of guest visits and/or command functions; AND recommending changes in administrative procedures and practices.

Additional Information Continued: PPP applicants will be placed at the FPL, if determined Well Qualified (WQ).

ICTAP Applicants: To be considered well-qualified and exercise selection priority as an ICTAP candidate, displaced Federal employees must satisfy all qualification requirements for the position and receive a rating in the highly qualified category (score 85) or higher.

  • You will maintain multiple senior management official's calendars using office automation software (e.g., Microsoft Outlook) to schedule meetings or conferences.
  • You will compose documents (e.g., reports, memorandums) to provide written responses to requests or to provide scheduled (e.g., weekly, monthly) reports.
  • You will plan executive administrative functions and/or dignitary/distinguished guest visits in compliance with command protocol.
  • You will coordinate meetings by notifying all participants and making logistical arrangements.
  • You will use personal computers, terminals, or office software programs to enter data or correct errors or omissions in documents, files, or records.
  • You will serve as the principal protocol planner, receives all visitors and telephone calls for the office in a courteous and professional manner.
  • You will coordinate Protocol Officers and Staff Secretaries of other organizations and coordinates with subordinate commands and prepare and distribute invitations, both handwritten and typed, for various social functions.
