Do you have a class A commercial driver's license (CDL)? Are you looking for winter seasonal work? The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) is looking for hard working individuals to assist with their winter seasonal work with the Region One,
The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) Region One is now hiring Seasonal Transportation Technicians! If you have a class A commercial driver's license (CDL) and are looking for hands-on, reliable work, we want to hear from you. Join our dedicated Logan Summit Maintenance Station and help keep Utah's roads safe and clear through the winter months.

The season typically begins in October/November and ends in March/April depending on the weather.

Principal Duties
Our Transportation Technicians use a variety of tools and heavy machinery from snow plows to backhoes to do their work. Each station is responsible for:
  • Removing snow from state roadways using snowplows/graders/blowers, etc.
  • Performing station and highway maintenance.
  • Repairing signs and fences.
  • Completing other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
The qualified candidate for this position will:
  • Have a current Class 'A' Commercial Driver License.
  • Have snow plowing experience.
  • Meet the 30 minute response time to the Logan Maintenance Station located at 790 W 200 N, Logan, UT 84321 or Laketown Maintenance Station located at 390 E Bear Lake Blvd, Laketown, UT 84038.
  • Be able and willing to routinely lift heavy objects (minimum of 50 pounds).
  • Be able and willing to work outdoors in various types of weather and conditions.
  • Be able and willing to work night hours.
  • Be able and willing to provide 24 hour availability.
  • Be a dependable self-starter.
  • Work well in a team environment and independently as required.

Preferences
Preference may be given to applicants who have:
  • UDOT maintenance/construction experience.
  • Work experience operating heavy equipment.
  • Work experience with and/or knowledge of roadway maintenance/construction and snow removal.

Here is some additional information you should be aware of:

Registration with the FMCSA Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse (Clearinghouse) is a requirement for all commercial driver license and learner permit holder’s.

Selected candidate will be required to register and authorize UDOT to conduct full pre-employment queries and limited queries on their CDL for the duration of their employment in order to be selected for this role.

  • This position is subject to pre-employment drug testing and random drug and alcohol testing of employees after hire. A conditional offer of employment may be made pending drug test results.
  • This position requires you to frequently be exposed to hazards and discomforts of traffic and environmental conditions due to the nature of the work assignment.
  • This position requires physical exertion. May require the ability to stand; walk over rough surfaces; bend, crouch, stoop, stretch, reach, lift moderately heavy items (up to 50 lbs.) in a recurring manner and/or for long periods of time.
