Job Description

Summary

This seasonal gardener job with the National Park Service involves maintaining and caring for plants, landscapes, and grounds in parks around Atlanta to keep them clean, safe, and beautiful during the summer of 2026.

Full Job Description

A selectee receiving a first appointment to the Federal Government (Civil Service) is entitled only to the lowest step of the grade for which selected.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Major Duties:

As a Gardener, you will perform the following duties: Maintains, protects, and preserves cultural and maintained landscapes, with a focus on the cleanliness and safety of the grounds.

Plants, transplants and cares for flowers, trees and shrubs. Trims, prunes and aerates plants and plant materials. Maintains decorative plants in various sites and courtyards.

Waters and fertilizes plants and removes dead growth. Selects, measures, mixes and applies chemical control agents and fertilizers using foliage feeding, root feeding and soil additive techniques.

Picks up trash and debris, reporting safety concerns and mitigating safety hazards in the park area.
