Full Job Description

A selectee receiving a first appointment to the Federal Government (Civil Service) is entitled only to the lowest step of the grade for which selected.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Major Duties:

As an Engineering Equipment Operator, you will perform the following duties: Operates heavy gasoline or diesel-powered engineering and construction equipment.

Grades surfaces on all types of terrains such as mountains and steep slopes, graded curves and shoulders, hilly forests, and rocky ground.

Operates road graders, crawlers, tractors with bulldozers or angledozer blades, backhoes, front-end loaders, excavators, wheel loaders, trench diggers, skid steers, and large industrial tractors with pan or scraper attachments.

May operate motor vehicles with air brakes, multi-geared standard/auxiliary transmissions, automatic transmissions, and/or power take off that include truck tractors with semi-trailers or full trailers, flatbed trailers, fire engines, sewage tanker or pumper trucks, and water tankers.

Operates forklift trucks over rough and sometimes muddy terrain through narrow aisles in inside and/or outside storage areas. Loads, secures, and drives equipment to and from project sites.

Performs pre-trip safety inspections on engineering equipment.
