Job Description

Summary

This seasonal job involves leading educational activities and summer camp programs for school-aged children in Jacksonville parks, including teaching lessons, supervising staff, and communicating with parents.

It runs from early June to late July, with shifts from 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. weekdays, and may include some outdoor work.

A good fit would be someone with teaching experience who enjoys working with kids and can handle a fast-paced, hands-on role in education.

Key Requirements

  • Minimum of two years' experience in an educational classroom role, preferably elementary education
  • Possess a Florida teaching certification

Full Job Description

Mandatory Training: 6/8/2026
Program Start: 6/1/2026
Program End: 7/24/2026
Hours of Operation: Monday - Friday 10:30 a.m. - 6:30 p.m.

This position will deliver educational based summer camp activities at several locations. May serve as the Site Leader and correspond with parents as necessary. Work may require some outdoor activities.

Requirements

  • Communicate with parents regarding camper registration.
  • Supervise and direct PT Camp Counselors.
  • Teaches prepared lesson to school-aged children.
  • Adjusts lesson to be age appropriate.
  • Sets up materials for activities.
  • Prepares and plans for upcoming lessons.
  • Performs related work as required.

Additional Information

Open Requirements/Supplemental Information:
  • Minimum of two (2) years' experience in an educational classroom role; preferably elementary education.
  • Must possess a Florida teaching certification.
  • Must pass background screening on a local, state and federal level as required by the State of Florida Children and Family Services.
  • Must successfully complete CPR and First Aid course which will be provided (date to be determined).
Preferred Skills:
  • Experienced classroom work in reading, math and science.
