The typical seasonal entry-on-duty period for this park Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area is May-October, but the season may be extended or reduced due to weather conditions, project needs, or funding.

To qualify for this position at the GS-0404-04 grade level, you must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement: EXPERIENCE: At least at least 6 months of general work experience and 6 months of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-0404-3 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors).
This experience must have been related to the work of the position for which application is made. The specialized experience required is normally work performed in a controlled environment.
Examples of qualifying specialized experience include research activity or control program work, nursery work that required the growing and maintenance of plants in a controlled environment, work comparable to that with a large dairy farm where production records, animal environment, and sanitary conditions were kept in accordance with modern dairy practice.
Farming experience that was not performed in a controlled environment, or experience as a laborer who was not responsible for planning and scheduling their own work, but only performed assigned tasks, would not qualify as specialized experience.

-OR- EDUCATION: Successful completion of at least 2 years of study beyond high school that included at least 12 semester hours in any combination of courses such as biology, chemistry, statistics, entomology, animal husbandry, botany, physics, agriculture, or mathematics.

This position is located in Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area, in the Division of Science and Resource Management.
This position works directly with Wildlife Biologist, Law enforcement and Interpretive divisions to help manage bear/human interactions.
Incumbents will patrol campgrounds and campsites to monitor bear activity and ensure proper food storage by the campers and report any food storage violations.
This position will require the applicant to educate visitors on black bear behavior and biology. Applicants will work alone and be able to set and maintain numerous types of wildlife traps.
Applicant will assist GS07 Biological Science Technician in monitoring wild hog damage and traps.?
Will patrol campgrounds and campsites to monitor bear activity and ensure proper food storage by the campers and report any food storage violations.
