Base salary range: $26,979 - $35,074

This seasonal job involves helping with fish and wildlife conservation efforts in Arizona, such as removing invasive fish, collecting environmental samples, maintaining habitats, and assisting with surveys and restoration projects.
It's a temporary role lasting less than six months, ideal for someone with basic experience in outdoor or scientific work who enjoys hands-on fieldwork in nature.
A good fit would be an entry-level enthusiast with some biology background or volunteer experience in conservation.
This position is a Biological Science Aid, GS- 0404-3. This position supports the Arizona Fish and Wildlife Conservation Office.
Duties include assisting senior staff with non-native fish removal, recording instrument data, collecting samples, maintaining habitat, capturing and tagging fish, operating field equipment, gathering study data, and performing routine tests.
Only experience and education obtained by 03/03/2026 will be considered. In order to qualify for this position, you must possess both the Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualification [GS-03] 1.
Must have six months of general experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position or that provided familiarity with biological procedures. OR 2.
Must have successfully completed 1 year of study above high school from an accredited college or university that included at least 6 semester hours in any combination of scientific or technical courses such as biology, chemistry, statistics, entomology, animal husbandry, botany, physics, agriculture, or mathematics.

Must have a combination of general experience and post high school education as described above, which meets 100% of the qualifying requirements.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).
Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Major Duties:
This is a temporary appointment intended for seasonal work that is less than 6 months or 1040 hours from the date of appointment/service year.
It is expected this position will be terminated upon completion of the seasons work.
The agency may non-competitively rehire an eligible temporary seasonal worker in subsequent years who works less than 6 months or 1040 hours in their service year.
As a Seasonal - Biological Science Aid your duties will include, but are not limited to, the following: Counting visual sightings of identifiable fish Reporting any change in habitat conditions Collecting samples of water, soil, plant, or animal specimens as instructed Recording location samples taken Working as a member of a crew engaged in conducting various fisheries surveys, stocking fish, grounds/facility maintenance, fencing, construction of habitat restoration projects, cleaning public recreation areas, etc.
