MISSION:
It is the mission of the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) to impact and transform young lives, strengthen families, and support safer communities through targeted prevention and rehabilitation.
JOB PURPOSE:
Under general supervision, serves as the initial law enforcement responder and school safety coordinator for campus emergencies. Provides security for special school events or functions such as sporting events, or at the request of school administration and approval of the Director of Public Safety. Assists other law enforcement officers with outside investigations concerning students attending the school. Escorts unauthorized, unruly visitors, or terminated employees off DJJ campuses. Establishes and maintains a close partnership with school administrators in order to provide a safe school environment. Enforce State and Department policies, rules, and regulations for the protection and security of youth, staff, visitors, and property of the South Carolina DJJ.JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Serves as School Resource Officer responding to and resolving calls for service.STATE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
A high school diploma and experience performing patrol or investigative duties with a public law enforcement agency. A bachelor's degree may be substituted for the required law enforcement experience.ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
