Base salary range: $62,107 - $80,737
Typical requirements: 1 year specialized experience at GS-10. Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or 3 years graduate study.
Note: Actual salary includes locality pay (15-40%+ depending on location).
This job involves managing fire safety programs on Navy ships, including inspections, investigations of incidents, and ensuring compliance with safety rules to prevent accidents.
You'll lead training, prepare reports, and work with ship crews and contractors to maintain safe operations.

You will serve as a SAFETY & OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH SPECIALIST in the Shipboard Safely & Environmental Program Division (C106A) of SOUTHEAST REG MAINTENANCE CTR SERMC.
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience attending fire prevention and housekeeping inspections on navy vessels and reviewing ship's force, Lead Maintenance Activities (LMA) and contractor's work that affects ships damage control response systems and capabilities.
Experience conducting shipboard fire related investigations including completing detail reports.
Experience in firefighting through trainers and underway drills or actual shore-based performance and knowledge in shipboard damage control and fire safety principles and procedures and shipboard firefighting practices as well as damage control practices.
Experience reading ship drawings and applying knowledge to determine damage control applicability, knowledge with ship plan of the day (SPOD), knowledge with ship fire safety councils (FSC), knowledge of ship repair, shipbuilding techniques, damage control and fire safety management practices and principles.
Experience and ability to effectively lead and train others, ability to prepare written reports and presentations and to conduct briefings or oral presentations.
