Base salary range: $62,107 - $80,737
Typical requirements: 1 year specialized experience at GS-10. Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or 3 years graduate study.
Note: Actual salary includes locality pay (15-40%+ depending on location).
This job involves inspecting aviation facilities and operations at Fort Hood to ensure safety standards are met, investigating accidents, and developing plans to prevent hazards in Army aviation activities.
A good fit would be someone with experience in safety management, especially in high-risk environments like aviation, who is detail-oriented and good at working with teams to fix issues quickly.
It's a temporary role that could become permanent, aimed at current Army civilians with relevant background.
About the Position: Position may be filled as a time-limited promotion, reassignment or change to lower grade not to exceed NTE 2 years by a current permanent Army employee.
Time-limited promotions may be extended up to a maximum of five years. Time-limited reassignments and changes to lower grade may exceed five years, however return rights may be impacted.

Current Department of Army Civilian Employees Applying on Time-Limited Assignments In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).
You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Managing safety or occupational health program elements; 2) Applying safety and occupational health laws, regulations, practices and procedures to advise on or resolve technical matters dealing with occupational safety and health requirements; and 3) Inspecting workplaces, processes, products, or other systems for compliance with established safety and occupational health policies or standards and to identify potential new hazards.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-11.
In addition to meeting the specialized experience requirement above, applicants must also possess the Aviation Safety Officer Course completion certification.
