This job involves leading a team of riggers at a naval shipyard in Maine, where you'll assign tasks, ensure safety rules are followed, and oversee the quality of work on lifting and handling operations for ships and structures.
It's a hands-on supervisory role focused on coordinating daily activities and solving problems to keep projects on track.
A good fit would be someone with strong leadership experience in trade or labor settings, especially in rigging or construction, who values safety and team efficiency.
You will serve as a RIGGER SUPERVISOR I in the Lifting and Handling Department, Rigging and Operations Division, Rigging Branch, Code 741, of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying.
Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO LEAD OR SUPERVISE, performing duties such as: -Directs the work of subordinates, resolving difficulties as they occur and reassigning or redirecting the work to obtain maximum efficiency from their group.
-Records employees time, accidents and injuries and their causes, work progress and similar information.
-Coordinate work assignments with other activities and ensure that work assignment are completed on a timely basis.
-Assigns work to each person based on their ability and experience and ensures that assignments are properly completed.
-Ensures that enough of the proper materials are available on side to cover and seal hull opening and/or accesses to ships or structures in the event of an emergency.
