Full Job Description

You will serve as a RIGGER LEADER in the FACILITY AND PLANT MAINTENANCE DIVISION, FACILITY AND INFRASTRUCTURE MANAGEMENT DEPARTMENT of FLEET READINESS CENTER SOUTHWEST.

Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying.

Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO LEAD OR SUPERVISE, and performing common tasks as a Rigger Leader including: (1) Demonstrating working knowledge and understanding of rigging for moving, securing or putting down a load, while using the appropriate mechanical shifting equipment (e.g., Cranes, Hoists, Chain Blocks, Winch Systems, etc.); (2) Providing leadership and technical oversight of non-supervisory employees in similar rigging trade or different trades working as an installation, repair, and clean up team on a variety of tasks requiring lifting, moving, and positioning heavy machines, equipment, large structural aircraft parts and other heavy items; (3) Exercising responsibility in meeting completion dates, troubleshooting, diagnosing problems, writing reports, and providing liaison between various personnel in support of assigned projects; (4) Ensuring safety and housekeeping rules are followed; (5) Answering questions of workers on procedures, policies, instructions, or other directives; and (6) Providing training to personnel in new techniques, theory of operation, determination of proper rigging used, and safety procedures for variety of assignments.

  • You will provide technical assistance and contribute to the task as a working member of the team.
  • You will oversee team efforts in installation and repair of rigging gear and equipment.
  • You will be responsible for meeting completion dates, troubleshooting, diagnosing problems, writing reports, and providing liaison between various personnel in support of assigned rigging operations.
  • You will ensure safety and housekeeping rules are followed.
  • You will answer questions of workers on procedures, policies, instructions, or other directives.
  • You will provide training to personnel in rigging techniques, theory of operation, determination of proper rigging equipment used, and safety procedures for variety of assignments.
