Full Job Description

The South Carolina Department of Parks, Recreation & Tourism is a cabinet agency assigned to operate and manage South Carolina's state parks, market the state as a preferred vacation destination and provide assistance to communities to develop recreation assets.

Job Purpose and Duties:

Performs a variety of functions within the Revenue Section of the Finance Office to include acting as liaison for the State Parks, Comptroller General, and the State Treasurer's Office and preparing weekly, monthly, and annual revenue reports. Audits the weekly revenue reports received from the State Parks to ensure accuracy in funds received and detail reporting with the Revenue System.

1) Performs an audit of the weekly revenue reports received electronically from the State Parks to ensure receipt documentation, proper entry of funds and types of funds (cash, check, credit card) are properly documented in the Revenue Tracking System. Verify scanned images, cash and check deposit slips and credit card transactions are accurate. Once the audit process has been completed and funds have been submitted to the State Treasurer, submit the weekly revenue report to the General Ledger Accountant to update our General Ledger.
2) Verify and ensure all credit card transactions processed in the CRS have been accurately recorded in the Revenue Tracking System prior to the General Ledger update. Download the necessary reports for auditing and submit any discrepancies or errors to the Revenue Manager.
3) Verify all credit card transactions for each terminal and merchant number with our processor, Client Line and Card Connect. Ensure each park/location has recorded receipts for every credit card batch transmittal. Audit the credit card transmittals to ensure these deposits are accurately recorded and the proper payment type has been selected in the Revenue Tracking System.
4) Ensure all deposit information is manually or electronically transmitted from the Revenue Tracking System to the State Treasurer. Maintain and record a log book containing all deposits submitted to the STO and verify all deposit transactions are recorded in SCEIS.
5) Maintain and file all weekly revenue reports and backup documentation. Assist and prepare all revenue documentation for yearly archive.
6) Reconcile monthly the Revenue Tracking Systems credit card transactions with each vendor’s monthly activity statement to ensure proper receipt of funds. This will include SunTrust and American Express.
7) Practice and promote teamwork within the work unit/office, throughout the agency and with external agency stakeholders. Represents office as an active member on agency teams assigned throughout the year.
8) Notify and provide assistance to staff members regarding proper entry and documentation of revenue received in the Revenue Tracking System. Acts as an agency liaison to the Comptroller General’s Office and the State Treasurer’s Office. Answer and respond to inquiries or problems in an accurate and timely manner.

Requirements

An associate's degree with 12 semester hours in accounting related courses and two (2) years of related bookkeeping experience with automated/computer systems. High School Diploma with five (5) years of related bookkeeping experience with automated/computer systems.

Additional Requirements:

1) Working knowledge of standard office and computer equipment, as well as advanced experience in working with Microsoft Excel, Access, and Word or equivalent software programs.
2) Must be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.

Actual Job Location: Finance Department

Monday-Friday, 37.5 hours weekly.
