JOB SUMMARY:

The position is a staff role in Clemson University's Institute for Engaged Aging, with a dynamic team dedicated to the Institute's mission to find and share the best ways to support and enrich the lives of older adults through research, education and community outreach.

Responsible for: recruiting and screening older adult participants; administering informed consents, behavioral assessments, and study interventions; collecting, entering and analyzing data; ensuring compliance with all regulatory and reporting requirements; and possible outreach activities.

May also include possible phlebotomy duties including safely collecting, processing, storing, and shipping blood specimens; maintaining sterile equipment; and following all safety and study protocols.

Other duties as assigned. This position is located in SC and will be either Greenville or Seneca, with travel between sites.

JOB DUTIES:

40% - Essential - Data Collection
Data Collection: Collects data from various sites according to research protocols, ensuring high accuracy and attention to detail in all procedures.

Data Entry and Quality Control: Maintains the quality of the data collected by ensuring proper entry and adherence to the protocols outlined for the study.

30% - Essential - Testing and Intervention Administration
Psychometric Testing: Administers psychometric tests and questionnaires objectively and consistently to gather reliable data.

Intervention Administration: Administers study interventions as per the protocol, ensuring the reliability of the study.

20% - Essential - Participant Recruitment and Engagement

Recruitment and Screening: Implements recruiting and screening protocols to identify eligible older adult participants for research studies, ensuring the diversity of participants.

Community Engagement: Travels to and attends community events.

Communication: Establishes and maintains rapport with study participants through regular communication, encouraging adherence to the intervention and addressing their concerns professionally and sensitively.

5% - Essential - Training and Public Communication

Training: Trains assistants and volunteers in gathering and entering data, ensuring consistency and reliability in data collection.

Public Communication: Crafts and disseminates information about the studies to the participants and the general public to foster awareness and engagement.

5% - Essential - Compliance and Regulation Adherence

Regulatory Adherence: Ensures that all research activities are in compliance with federal, state, and university regulations, including IRB, Good Clinical Practice, and HIPAA guidelines.

Documentation: Oversees the proper documentation and maintenance of necessary documents as dictated by regulatory guidelines.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education - A bachelor's degree in a related field and work experience directly related to the assigned research area; or a high school diploma and advanced journey-level work experience in a clinical or research setting.At least 1 year research experience.

Proficient with Office 365 and Zoom software.

This position requires direct contact with vulnerable populations and requires medical clearances and vaccinations against COVID-19 or other diseases.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

Psychology, gerontology, health or behavioral sciences, other related field.

Experience working on NIH-funded studies and/or clinical trials. Experience in phlebotomy. Experience working with older adults and/or diverse populations. Experience with REDCap and Qualtrics.

This position requires direct contact with vulnerable populations and requires medical clearances and vaccinations against COVID-19 or other diseases. With valid and current phlebotomy certification.
