  • Post-hire certifications in CPR and Managing Agitation in the Psychiatric Setting (MAPS)
  • Ability to operate a state vehicle and work a flexible schedule, including during emergencies
  • Bilingual skills in English and Spanish (or another language) are preferred

This position is located at the SC Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) - Office of Mental Health, Catawba Community Mental Health Center (CCMHC), 205 Piedmont Blvd, Suite 100, Rock Hill, SC 29730


Under the general supervision of the Nursing Supervisor, will provide medically necessary nursing services to clients in assigned areas within CCMHC. Will also ensure frequent interaction with other community agencies and maintain positive professional relationships.


Responsibilities for the Registered Nurse position:

  • Will provide medically necessary nursing services including but not limited to nursing assessments and medication monitoring for effectiveness and side effects.
  • Will attend and participate in Treatment Team meetings/staffings, including staffing with MD at CCMHC. Provide medical testing for staff as required. Pursue continuing education and training.

    Maintain positive professional relationships with MHC staff, and community agencies, as well as, clients and their families.

    Work to overcome the stigma of mental illness and mental health services by providing education, training and support services to the community at large.

  • Will provide coordination & consultation for case managers and MD’s to meet the needs of the clients served including but not limited to medication needs and necessary coordination with outside resources regarding health care needs.
  • Will provide nursing education to clients and their families regarding medication, management of symptoms, health care issues, and healthy living.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and related nursing experience.
  • A bachelor’s degree in nursing and two (2) years of experience OR a three (3) year diploma and two (2) years of experience; OR an associate degree in nursing and two (2) years of experience as a registered nurse, one (1) of which must have been in a community health program.
Additional Requirements:
  • Must be able to work with repetitive patient behaviors.
  • Possible exposure to blood/body fluids.

*Nursing Positions:

A nursing license through the SC Board of Nursing must be obtained no later than 30 days of initial hire date.


Qualifications

  • Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus.
  • Health care or related experience.
  • Knowledge of nursing procedures, personal hygiene, basic health and safety practices, basic human anatomy.

Post hire, employees must:

  • Be able to pass CPR and Managing Agitation in the Psychiatric Setting (MAPS) Certification.

  • Be able to work a flexible schedule and know this position is considered essential and may be called back during crises / disasters/ emergencies.
