In this role, you will be responsible for monitoring real-time traffic using camera systems and communication tools, as well as employing effective incident management strategies to identify, confirm, and respond to emergencies. Requirements

In this position, you will oversee real-time traffic conditions by utilizing closed-circuit television (CCTV), detection systems, weather monitoring tools, and law enforcement communications, among other resources. Your responsibilities include receiving, verifying, and evaluating traffic incidents, roadway hazards, weather events, and both planned and unplanned lane restrictions to determine their severity and the appropriate response actions based on established protocols. You will also coordinate incident response efforts with county maintenance, the Pennsylvania State Police (PSP), and other relevant stakeholders.

Additionally, you will act as the main communication hub for traffic and incident information within the District, ensuring that accurate and timely updates are shared with county, district, and statewide Traffic Management Center (TMC) contacts. Maintaining a communication log and situational reports will be essential for operational continuity. You will develop staff schedules, create training documentation, and conduct annual training sessions for TMC employees. Monitoring system functionality and reporting any hardware or software issues will be crucial, as will completing detailed incident logs and compiling operational data for accuracy.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience evaluating and coordinating information related to traffic data, incidents or conditions.
