Job Description

Summary

This job involves supporting the Army's ROTC program by advising on recruiting efforts, managing scholarships and incentives, and helping develop plans to attract new cadets at the University of New Hampshire.

You'll analyze program issues, recommend fixes, and participate in local events to boost awareness of the program.

It's a good fit for someone with experience in recruitment or education programs, strong organizational skills, and a passion for military or youth development initiatives.

Key Requirements

  • At least one year of specialized experience at GS-08 level or equivalent, including determining enrollment eligibility for ROTC cadets, managing scholarships using laws and regulations, and executing marketing strategies.
  • 52 weeks of federal service at GS-09 or equivalent if previously in a GS position within the last year.
  • Eligibility under specific authorities such as 30%+ disabled veterans, current DoD civilians, military spouses, or VEOA veterans.
  • Strong competencies in attention to detail, customer service, decision making, flexibility, integrity/honesty, interpersonal skills, learning, reading comprehension, reasoning, self-management, stress tolerance, teamwork.
  • Ability to provide advice on recruiting, retention, and incentives; develop and execute recruiting plans; analyze program issues and make recommendations.

Specialized experience is defined as: Work that involves determining enrollment eligibility for prospective Reserve Officer Training Corp (ROTC) cadets; utilizing pertinent laws and regulations to manage and award scholarship incentives; and executing marketing strategy operation orders specified by higher headquarters.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-09.

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Attention to Detail Customer Service Decision Making Flexibility Integrity/Honesty Interpersonal Skills Learning Reading Comprehension Reasoning Self-Management Stress Tolerance Teamwork Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).

Major Duties:

  • Provide sound advice on subject such as recruiting, retention, and incentives management.
  • Responsible for the development and execution of recruiting plans.
  • Responsible for gathering, identifying and analyzing recruiting program issues ensuring that programs function effectively and effectively.
  • Make recommendations to correct deficient program issues.
  • Participate in recruiting activities in pre-selected areas in an effort to increase public awareness of the ROTC program.
