About the position: The primary purpose of this positions is to perform as shift lead in the Resale and Rental operation for the Outdoor Recreation Center, 35th Force Support Squadron, Misawa AB Japan.
This is a Flexible category position; Guaranteed 0 hours per week, depending on the needs of the facility. Military Spouse Preference IS NOT lost if selected for this position.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).
You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.
Qualifying Experience: Experience demonstrating a working familiarity with the routines and procedures followed in group activities or programs, AND Practical knowledge and/or experience of recreational activities and equipment, rules and procedures in a recreation program activity which has involved recreation work in the area of specialty in which the position is assigned.
Ability to safeguard and handle cash. Condition(s) of Employment: Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds on a regular and recurring basis. Must have a valid driver's license.
Must be able to satisfactorily complete a pre-employment drug test. Must be able to satisfactorily complete pre-employment physical.
Successful completion and favorable adjudication of background investigation (Tier 1 level) is required. Must be able to work an uncommon tour of duty to include days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Major Duties:
Types of duties include, but are not limited to, the following: Tests and trains other assistants, recreation aids, and patrons on a wide variety of equipment rental/loan items such as skis, snowboards, camping, kayaks, sup boards, canoes, scuba, fishing, and biking equipment.
Ensures proper check in/out of equipment and demonstrates safety and conservation techniques to staff and customers for campsites, and water sports area.
Arranges equipment displays for best economic and seasonal advantages at all ODR areas (including equipment checkout, paint ball accessories, skeet and trap equipment, marina, RV program etc.); sets up and clears/removes debris from skeet and trap range, paint ball field and base beach.
Ensures proper safety procedures are followed at ODR locations regarding facilities, equipment rental and tools. Assists ODR management with marketing tools to drive consumer awareness of ODR programs.
Answers staff/customer questions about items, locations, transportation, and other matters related to outdoor recreation activities. Takes inventory of APF and NAF recreation supplies and equipment.
Inspects indoor and/or outdoor recreation equipment for safety, security, and general conditions.
Schedules campsites, cabins, facility rentals and other outdoor recreation equipment/areas for use; responsible for seeing that they are vacated or returned in good order.
Assists ODR management in implementing training program. Performs other related duties as assigned. Must be able to work an uncommon tour of duty to include days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
*This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use.
