Job Description

Summary

This job is for a recreation assistant at a ski area on a U.S.

Army base in Wisconsin, where you'll help customers with rentals like skis and snowboards, ensure their safety on lifts, and handle tasks like collecting fees and maintaining the facility.

It's a customer-facing role that involves some light operations like snack bar support and equipment checks.

Full Job Description

This position is located at Whitetail Ridge Ski Area, Fort McCoy, WI, and is one of only three ski hills operated by the Army. Incentives and Bonuses Incentives will not be paid.

This announcement will have a first cutoff of January 20, 2026, and applicants that submit a complete application packet prior to that date and found eligible may be given first consideration.

A qualified candidate must possess the following: Work experience which involved dealing with the general public Major Duties:

  • Responsible for answering phones, waiting on customers, fitting customer with skis and/or snowboards. Assists and monitors the customers on the ski or tubing lift for safety, to ensure correct approach and usage of equipment.
  • Assists with providing various services to customers, to include assisting of snack bar operation and cleanup to ensure presentation of chalet is in good order.
  • Collects fees, issues, receives, sells or rents merchandise, sports equipment or tools, (such as skis, boots, poles and sleds), and provides facility and program information to patrons.
  • Receives returned items, inspecting for obvious damage and missing parts and maintains recreation area, tools and equipment. May operate snowmobile for transportation.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
