Summary

This job is for a lifeguard at an outdoor pool on Little Rock Air Force Base, where you'll watch swimmers, enforce safety rules, perform rescues if needed, and keep the pool area clean and operational.

It's a flexible, part-time role with no guaranteed hours, ideal for someone energetic and responsible who enjoys working outdoors and helping people stay safe in the water.

About the position: This position will be assigned to the Little Rock AFB - Outdoor Recreation Pool. May be required to work uncommon tour of duty.

This is a flexible position with no guaranteed minimum hours, with scheduling up to 40 hours per week possible.

Position will not exceed the date of September 26, 2026 Up to $250 Lifeguard Certification reimbursement, rules apply.

An applicant's eligibility will be determined based on eligibility claimed in the questionnaire and proof of eligibility MUST be provided with application by the closing date, 03/27/2026 Business Based Action, Military Spouse Preference, Outside Applicant Veteran, Spouse/Widow/Parent of Veteran, and Transition Hiring Preference In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Qualifying Experience: Must be at least 16 years of age.

Must successfully complete nationally recognized certification in lifeguarding and water rescue methods and skills, as well as basic first aid training, and CPR (both child and adult) for the professional rescuer training, within the first 5 days of employment.

Limited knowledge of swimming facility rules, work procedures, equipment and materials to perform standing and recurring tasks as needed. Ability to communicate effectively, orally. Major Duties:

This position duties include: Instructs patrons on rules and procedures for safe swimming. Continuously observes swimming area to ensure safety of patrons. Enforces pool rules with customers.

Ensure that the swimming area is open to patrons at the scheduled times and that authorized persons only are admitted to the area.

Rescues swimmers in trouble, promptly administers first aid, CPR, and calls for medical assistance when and if needed.

Warns swimmers of unsafe environmental or health conditions, inclement weather conditions, and closes pool until safe conditions prevail.

May operate water pumps and control chemical additives to ensure pool water meets specified standards. Ensures entire facility is inspected for safety and necessary repairs are reported and completed.

May preform other related or incidental duties as assigned for the daily operation of the swimming area to include: restocking restrooms, cleaning of bath houses, wading pools, main pools, pool decks, sunbathing areas, performs opening and closing procedures, handles cash, makes deposits, etc.

Some physical exertion is required while performing a swimming rescue. Must be able to lift 50lbs and over.
