Job Description

Summary

This job is for a lead lifeguard at a military base pool in Kansas, where you'll supervise other lifeguards, ensure the pool runs safely, and help with water safety training and rescues.

It's a hands-on role focused on keeping swimmers safe and maintaining the facility. A good fit would be someone with lifeguard experience who enjoys working with people and staying calm in emergencies.

This position is located at FMWR Fort Leavenworth, KS.. Incentives and Bonuses Incentives will not be paid. Resumes must be two pages (or less).

A qualified candidate must possess the following: - American Red Cross "Lifeguard" certification or nationally recognized equivalent (i.e. Ellis & Associates Lifeguard Certification).

- American Red Cross "Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation for the Professional Rescuer" (CPR-Pro) certification or nationally recognized equivalent (i.e.

Ellis & Associates (CPR) Certification). - American Red Cross "Automated External Defibrillator" (AED) certification or nationally recognized equivalent i.e.

Ellis & Associates AED certification.

In addition to the above qualifications, candidates who possess the following qualifications will be considered "Highly Preferred" or "Best Qualified": At least one (1) year experience as a Lifeguard.

Applicants meeting minimum qualification requirements and highly preferred criteria will be considered before candidates only meeting minimum qualifications of the position. Major Duties:

  • Assist with the operation of the pool, oversees the work of assigned lifeguards and monitors compliance with facility policies. Assists with scheduling of employees. Attend aquatics and/or safety training as directed.
  • Assists with the operation of the pool, its filtration system, water balance, pool chemistry and performs water tests. Under direction of the pool supervisor, employ safety rules for the protection of the guest.
  • Responsible for life guarding guest in attendance at the assigned aquatic facility. Rescues swimmers and administers first aid as required. Assist in coaching or preparing the competitive and non-competitive swimming programs as required.
  • Responsible for assisting in the conduct of aquatic swimming and water survival training according to ATP 7-22.01 as of October 2020. Ensures maintaining pool and area is clean and free from any hazards. Maintains daily logs and records as required.
  • Provides information to swimmers regarding safety rules and procedures. Tactfully warns patrons who repeatedly disregard safety rules and follow facility Standard Operating Procedures for disciplinary actions.
