Job Description

Summary

This job involves running a frame shop at an Air Force base arts and crafts center, where you'll help customers with picture framing, teach classes on framing techniques, and maintain the shop's tools and equipment.

About the position:This position will be assigned to the Arts & Crafts Center on F.E. Warren AFB, Wyoming. This position is considered Flexible.

The position is guaranteed 0.00 hours, but has the potential to work up to 40 hours per week. You may be required to work some weekends.

As a Flexible employee, you are not eligible for leave or benefits. The starting pay for this position is $18.00 per hour. Who May Apply: Open to everyone.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Qualifying Experience: Must be able to create a curriculum for framing classes and able to instruct patrons in the art of framing.

Incumbent must have experience in picture framing, mat cutting and decorative mat cutting. Must have knowledge of wood and metal moldings for frames.

Must have a general concept for colors and ability to recommend pleasing colors to patrons. Must have skill in use of a variety of hand and power tools used in framing.

Basic knowledge of wood working and practical experience operating woodworking equipment is desirable. Major Duties:

PHYSICAL EFFORTS: Light to moderately heavy physical effort is required. Lift and carry items weighing up to 20 pounds or more is frequent.

Frequent bending, standing, and stoop for extended periods of time.Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Maintains and operates the frame shop for patron use and provides framing service to customers Maintains and uses a variety of equipment used in the making of picture frames Develops curriculum for basic and advanced framing and mat classes Demonstrates proper techniques and methods used in framing Assists with mat selection, color coordination, decorative mat selection, and frame size Demonstrates and follows safety procedures in equipment use Registers patrons, collects appropriate fees, and issues materials, tools and equipment Frames patron artwork or pictures to customer's order Maintains shop tools and assures tools are kept in good working order Assists in the woodworking shop when necessary using wood working shop equipment Accepts cash, checks and credit cards for sales, prepares customer receipts, completes cashier reports, makes deposits and operates cash register Accomplishes closing checklist procedures and secures facility If interested in applying for this position you may preview the online application: https://apply.usastaffing.gov/ViewQuestionnaire/12874431
