Full Job Description

This is a NAF position with the 17th Force Support Squadron, located at the Fitness Center, within the Sustainment Services Flight on Goodfellow AFB, San Angelo, Texas.

This position is considered Flexible. The position is not guaranteed any hours, but has the potential to work up to 40 hours per week. You may be required to work some nights, weekends and holidays.

An applicant's eligibility will be determined based on eligibility claimed in the questionnaire and proof of eligibility MUST be provided with application by the closing date, 03/16/2026 Business Based Action, Military Spouse Preference, Outside Applicant Veteran, Spouse/Widow/Parent of Veteran, and Transition Hiring Preference In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Qualifying Experience: Must have current experience which provided a working familiarity with the routines followed in group fitness activities or programs.

Must be capable of demonstration knowledge of exercise subject, if required. Must possess a valid group exercise certification.

Must possess a current American Red Cross Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and basic first aid certification or obtain within 30 days of hire.

Must be physically capable of leading an hour long group fitness class, Must be able to successfully complete a pre-employment physical examination.

Must be able to read, speak, and write English and communicate effectively with patrons. Must possess skill in dealing with the public. May be required to work an uncommon tour of duty.

Must satisfactory complete a Tier-1 background investigation. Major Duties:

Develop and lead various exercise classes (i.e. step aerobics, kickboxing, spin, yoga, Zumba, etc.) to address the differing needs of active duty military, dependents, and civilian personnel.

Observe class participants to ensure they are performing exercises safely. Promote physical fitness participation by explaining and demonstration proper conditioning procedures.

Set up and tear down exercise space based on class type; to include operating a stereo system and setting out appropriate equipment for the class.

Instructors will also fill in for other fitness classes, based on current certifications, on an as needed basis.
