About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the OUTDOOR RECREATION CENTER POOLS. Who May Apply: Open to everyone.

An applicant's eligibility will be determined based on eligibility claimed in the questionnaire and proof of eligibility MUST be provided with application by the closing date, 03/06/2026 Business Based Action, Military Spouse Preference, Outside Applicant Veteran, Spouse/Widow/Parent of Veteran, and Transition Hiring Preference In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Qualifying Experience: For pool and aquatic center lifeguards: Must have an approved and current nationally recognized certification in lifesaving and water rescue methods and skills, as well as first aid training, and CPR (infant, child and adult) training.

Must have experience which provides a practical knowledge of swimming activities, rules and procedures and skill in the use and maintenance of various pool and safety equipment is desirable.

Satisfactory completion of installation records checks, state and national criminal background checks may be required for positions that provide lifesaving duties for children.

Must be able to satisfactorily complete a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI). Must be available to work non-regular shifts to include evenings and weekends. Position of trust.

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Major Duties:

Continuously observes swimming area to ensure safety of patrons. Ensures the swimming area is open to patrons at scheduled times and only authorized persons are admitted to the area.

Rescues swimmers in trouble, promptly administers first aid, and calls for medical assistance if and when needed.

Warns swimmers of unsafe environmental or health conditions, and recommends closing swimming areas until safe conditions prevail.

Must enforce all pool rules, administer swim tests, and preform water testing.

Ensures that play structures are inspected frequently for cracks or loose matting, and that necessary repairs are reported to management. Must participate in staff in-service training.

May be required to assist management in controlling access to special swim events by checking I.D.'s and enforcing alcohol rules and regulations.

Must be able to identify and report any unacceptable or unsafe behavior that affects patrons or pool staff and take proper actions and report, as necessary.

May perform other related or incidental duties as assigned for the daily operation of the swimming area to include: cash handling, daily paperwork, cleaning of bath houses, wading pools, main pools, pool decks, beach areas, sunbathing areas, etc.
