About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the Arts & Crafts Center on Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, AK.
This position is Flexible, meaning you are guaranteed a minimum of 0 hours per week to a maximum of 40 hours per week. Your schedule will depend on needs of the facility.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).
You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.
Qualifying Experience: Preferred knowledge in operating engraving systems and have basic knowledge of computer and software such as Corel, Adobe, Graphic design programs or Microsoft Office.
Ability to copy text and graphics between multiple applications. Ability to read, write, spell and figure basic math and measurement. Must have a clear speaking voice and work with the public.
May work uncommon work schedule, including weekends. Requires continuous standing, walking and stooping. Subject to metal and wood splinters, fumes, cuts, burns or bruises.

Must be able to satisfactorily complete a Tier 1 Investigation. Major Duties:
1. Initiates and completes engraving orders by assisting customers in their selection of materials. calculates material and prices using established price lists; designs or downloads engraving images.
Performs layout and designs for engraving items. Uses judgment in matching sizes, colors and designs as needed.
Assists patrons by demonstrating designs and matching colors of selected time for taking orders. Prepares orders for necessary supply and resale items. 2.
Assembles and performs preventative maintenance on engraving equipment in accordance with user guides and templates.
Requests maintenance and repair services to Assistant Director or Director for any repairs more complex than preventative maintenance or minor repairs. 3.
Assists assigned personnel in all areas of the Arts and Crafts Program. Operates a variety of equipment to include and hand computerized power tools.

Responsible for operating the cash register, collects money, makes change, and issues receipts.
At the end of each shift, closes out the cash register, completes required paperwork and submits entire package to supervisor. 5. Assists customers in placing special engraving and framing orders.
Assist in conducting inventories. Maintains security of all merchandise, equipment and funds assigned.
Provides customer service, answers the telephone, and assists shop users with craft skill development and work procedures. 6.
With guidance from the supervisor, provides demonstrations and guidance on crafts. Maintains clean, neat and safe work area. Participates in special events to market the Arts and Crafts services. 7.
Performs other related duties and assists facility supervisor as requested. 8. Incumbent works under the supervision of the Assistant Director or Director. Must complete task independently.
