This job involves supporting daily operations at an arts and crafts center on a military base, including handling customer inquiries, creating custom items like plaques and frames, and using tools and machines for engraving and cutting materials.
It's a hands-on role that helps with classes, inventory, and keeping the workspace clean.
A good fit would be someone reliable who enjoys creative work, can follow instructions, and has basic skills in computers and simple math, with no prior experience required as long as they can lift moderate weights.
About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the Arts and Crafts Center on Travis Air Force Base, CA.
Physical effort: Must be able to lift objects weighing 35 pounds.
Eligible to use base facilities such as: Base Exchange (BX), Gym, Outdoor Rec, Library, Marina, Golf Course, Bowling Center, and the Arts & Crafts Center.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).
You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.
Qualifying Experience: Ability to follow direction, work alone, under direct supervision or with little or no guidance from supervisor. Ability to read a ruler and the ability to do simple math.
Must have basic computer skills, i.e. Microsoft Word and Excel. Major Duties:
Performs a variety of general office duties such as receiving telephone calls and visitors, answers inquiries regarding all activities within the Arts & Crafts Center i.e.
Auto, Engraving, Vehicle/RV resale lots, and Car Wash. Assists in creating products to include but not limited to plaques, trophies, name plates, picture frames, and shadow boxes.
Uses computer software for a diamond drag rotary engraver, laser engraver, embroidery machine, or eclipse mat cutter to develop projects.
Measures and cuts metal, plastic stock, mat board, frame stock, glass, trophy extrusion and wood using various tools.
Uses a wide variety of professional/industrial power tools, hand power tools, and manual hand tools. Ensures tools and equipment is kept clean and in good working order.
Assists in maintaining perpetual control on all inventory items using pre-established procedures and methods. Assists in maintaining good housekeeping, i.e.
customer service areas, restrooms, hallways as well as work areas. Assists with classes, student registration for classes and hands out equipment.
