This job involves running the kitchen at a senior center's cafe, where you'll cook simple meals for breakfast and lunch, manage food purchases and storage, handle sales through a point-of-sale system, and ensure everything follows health and safety rules.
You'll also supervise staff and volunteers while adapting to a busy community environment.

Under direction, manages and supervises subordinate staff and volunteers.Under general supervision, act as a coordinator over the Senior Center’s Friendly Cup Café Kitchen.
Purchase, sell, and store food and supplies.Prepare, bake and cook basic food items and meals for breakfast and lunch service.Assist with food menu development and supply requisition.Responsible for following health codes pertaining to food preparation, sanitation, hygiene and reporting of facility, equipment, and customer interactions.Operation of the point-of-sales (POS) system, count revenues daily and prepare daily cash records.Maintain a pantry of canned and dry goods and equipment.
Drives offsite to purchase food and supplies.Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Must possess a valid motor vehicle operator’s license.Five (5) years of experience working in recreation, customer service or a related field, including two years of experience acting as lead staff (an equivalent amount of education in a related area may substitute for up to one year).Must possess Food Handlers Certification.Must have Food Managers Certification or must possess the ability obtain Food Managers Certification upon hiring (training and certification provided by the City).DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONSProfessional experience in food service and cooking.Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, and/or Canva is desirable.Experience working with children and adults with a wide range of ethnic, cultural, and socio-economic backgrounds.The successful candidate will possess the following:Outstanding customer service and strong organizational, administrative, and program management skills.Excellent written and oral communication skills.Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment.Ability and willingness to adapt to a changing environment.
