This job is for a kitchen aide at the Long Beach Senior Center's Friendly Cup Cafe, where you'll help prepare simple meals like soups, sandwiches, and salads, serve customers, and keep the kitchen clean and safe.
It's a temporary, part-time role ideal for someone who enjoys working with seniors, has basic food handling skills, and can handle a busy environment with friendly customer interactions.
No advanced cooking experience is required, but reliability and a positive attitude are key.


Under direction, assists Main Cook in food preparation, baking and cooking at the Senior Center’s Friendly Cup Café Kitchen.
Prepare, bake and/or cook soups, sandwiches, salads, snacks, and other various breakfast and lunch items and meals.Set up and break down of service and kitchen areas.Assist patrons with serving trays and other customer service-related needs.Responsible for following health codes pertaining to food preparation, sanitation, hygiene and reporting of facility, equipment, and customer interactions.Operation of the point-of-sales (POS) system, count revenues daily and prepare daily cash records.Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Must be at least 18 years of age.Must have access to reliable transportation to and from work.Must have Food Handlers Certification or must possess the ability obtain Food Handlers Certification upon hiring (training and certification provided by the City).DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONSProfessional experience in food service and cooking.The successful candidate will possess the following:Outstanding customer service.Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
