About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and is located at the Schilling Community Center on Kadena Air Base, Okinawa, Japan.

An applicant's eligibility will be determined based on eligibility claimed in the questionnaire and proof of eligibility MUST be provided with application by the closing date, 01/16/2026 The Area of Consideration for this vacancy announcement is US Citizens and legal US residents in Okinawa, Japan.

Legal US residents must possess a social security number and be citizens of a NATO country. Must be able to provide documentation proving residence status overseas.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Qualifying Experience: Must have customer service experience which required face-to-face and over the phone assistance. Must have ability to communicate both orally, in writing and in group settings.

Must have basic computer skills working with Microsoft Word, data entry, e-mail and website searches.

Knowledge/experience which provides a working familiarity with group activities or programs is highly desirable. Cash handling experience: accepting payments by cash, credit card is highly preferred.

May be required to work evenings, weekends, and holidays to support facility operations and special events. Major Duties:

This position reports directly to the Schilling Community Center Director and/or Assistant Director.

This position is responsible for providing a variety of customer service and programming duties for the Schilling Community Center.

The role involves direct interaction with customers to provide information and assistance, as well as the planning, execution, and support of recreational activities, classes, and special events.

Performs customer service responsibilities such as providing referral and leisure information, assisting customers with information on programs and services provided by the Schilling Community Center.

Understands and uses a variety of recreation reference sources and exercises resourcefulness in tracing information of local sites, attractions, and various activities/programs.

Carries out recurring group activities such as classes, clubs, special events, outreach, competitive games and events.

Recommends new programming activities, to include type of format and resources the activity would require. Assists individuals with special interests to develop clubs or special interest groups.

Creates maps with written directions, and brochures with general facility information. Sets up rooms to support meetings for group needs. Greets facility users and conducts facility tours.

Performs cash handling procedures such as accepting payments in cash, check, credit cards, and gift certificates, provides receipts. Decorates facility to reflect holiday and program themes.

Works with other staff members, volunteer and/or individual/personal services contract personnel. Assists in the set-up, monitoring of, and tear-down of Schilling programs as well as at Base Events.
