About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the 92 Force Support Squadron / Outdoor Recreation Center / Aquatics Center.
This is a training position for a certified Lifeguard.
The primary purpose of this position is to function as a lifeguard responsible for safeguarding the lives of persons using the respective swimming pool to which assigned.
This is a Flexible position; guaranteed 0-40 hours per week; depending on the needs of the facility.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).
You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.
Qualifying Experience: Experience which provides practical knowledge of swimming activities, rules and procedures and skill in the use and maintenance of various pool and safety equipment is desirable.
Must be able to obtain an approved and current nationally recognized certification in lifesaving and water rescue methods and skills, as well as basic first aid training and CPR (both child and adult) training, within 6 months of employment.
Major Duties:
Continuously observes swimming area to ensure safety of patrons. Ensures the swimming area is open to patrons at scheduled times and only authorized persons are admitted to the area.
Works under close supervision wherein the work is closely monitored and detailed guidance provided.
When working at pools, may operate water pumps and control chemical additives to ensure pool water meets specified standards.
Ensures that diving boards are inspected frequently for cracks or loose matting, and that necessary repairs are made.
May perform other related or incidental duties as assigned for the daily operation of the swimming area to include: cleaning of bath houses, wading pools, main pools, pool decks, beach areas, sunbathing areas, etc.
