About the position: This position will be assigned to the Aviation Cadet Pool, Outdoor Recreation on Maxwell AFB, AL.
This position is an Intermittent/Flexible position, which means you may be scheduled from 0 to 40 hours per week based on mission need.
This position is a Term position and the appointment will not last beyond 31 Oct 2026 Physical Effort: Must be able to lift and carry 45 pounds and occasionally over with assistance.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.
Qualifying Experience: Must have an approved and current nationally recognized certification in lifesaving and water rescue methods and skills, as well as basic first aid training, and CPR (both child and adult) training.
Must have experience which provides a practical knowledge of swimming activities, rules and procedures and skill in the use and maintenance of various pool and safety equipment is desirable.
You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Major Duties:
Duties and Responsibilities: The following are duties you may be required to accomplish but it is not all inclusive: - Continuously observes swimming area to ensure safety of patrons.
- Ensures the swimming area is open to patrons at scheduled times and only authorized persons are admitted to the area.
- Rescues swimmers in trouble, promptly administers first aid, and calls for medical assistance if and when needed.
- Warns swimmers of unsafe environmental or health conditions, ocean conditions of rough water or hazards, and recommends closing swimming areas until safe conditions prevail.
- When working at pools, may operate water pumps and control chemical additives to ensure pool water meets specified standards.
-Ensures that diving boards are inspected frequently for cracks or loose matting, and that necessary repairs are made.
- May perform other related or incidental duties as assigned for the daily operation of the swimming area to include: cleaning of bath houses, wading pools, main pools, pool decks, beach areas, sunbathing areas, etc.
