Job Description

Summary

This job involves working at a marina on a Marine Corps base in Hawaii, where you'll help rent out boats and watercraft, ensure everything is safe and ready for use, and teach customers how to operate them properly.

Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS) is looking for the best and brightest to join our Team!

MCCS is a comprehensive program that supports and enhances the quality of life for Marines, their families, and others in the Marine Corps Community.

Must be able to learn Marine Corps Community Services policies, rules, and regulations involving the work area, and have the ability to communicate orally with patrons, co-workers, and management.

Must be able to work weekends and holidays and in an outdoor type of environment, with exposure to all types of weather, including extreme heat and be able to occasionally lift items weighing up to 45 pounds unassisted, and over 45 pounds with assistance.

A valid driver's license is preferred. Major Duties:

Incumbent is assigned to the Marina and Recreation Equipment Rental program. Performs and/or assists in the operations of the outdoor recreation marina and recreation equipment rental facility.

Based on established policies, incumbent carries out assigned phases of the designated activity applying an understanding of the interest and needs of program participants.

Typical assignments may include: preparing boats and watercraft for rental, including warming-up and bilging of the boats and verifying required safety equipment is available and in serviceable condition.

Directs and assists customers at the docks, ensuring a safe departure and arrival of marina watercrafts and may provide transport to and from boats berthed at the mooring field.

Inspects boats and watercrafts for damages and informs Marina Manager and/or General Manager immediately of damages.

Responsible for securing and storing all marina boats and watercraft and ensures that all equipment is removed and is stored properly. Responsible for fueling marina boats.

Ensures all portable gas tanks are filled. Demonstrates procedures common to all marina recreation activities.

Instructs patrons in the use of related equipment such as life vests, fishing gear, kayaks, erecting bouncy houses, and operation of our marina water crafts.

Responsible for performing household chores associated with boat and watercraft maintenance such as cleaning and equipment preparation procedures.

Conducts instructional classes of the recreational area. Helps to plan and coordinate details of recreational activities and maintains related supplies.

Assists in planning, scheduling and publicizing various activities to attract and motivate participants.

Teaches and instructs all customers on safe operation of marina outdoor watercrafts to include operational features of watercraft, safe departure and arrival to the docks, and knowledge and awareness of the surrounding water areas to include safe passage, restricted areas, and proper techniques on mooring.

Recreation Assistants are assigned the dual responsibility of enforcing and being aware of boat and water safety.

It is their assignment to ensure that all patrons are aware of and abide by Marina rules and regulations.

Daily assignments include following direction and assignments from the Marina Manager or Ge11e1.:al Manager or their designated assignee.

Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Takes action to solve problems quickly.

Alerts higher-level supervisor or proper point of contact for help when problems arise. Adheres to safety regulations and standards.

Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor.

Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment. Performs other related duties as assigned.
