The Department of Corrections (DOC), Population Management Division, Criminal History Verification Unit is seeking meticulous Records Specialist 1s to ensure every criminal history assessment is accurate and complete.

Requirements

As a Records Specialist 1, you will play a crucial role ensuring the accuracy and completeness of criminal history data for individuals in need of assessment.

You will review and verify all available criminal history documentation, including juvenile and out-of-state charges, to determine the disposition of criminal charges.

Additionally, you will conduct research and communicate with various agencies to clear dispositions and ensure the accuracy of sentence computations and parole board recommitment action changes.

This work centers on interpreting sentencing documents, along with conducting detailed reviews and calculations.

In addition, you will respond to inquiries from inmates, DOC staff, and other agencies regarding completed sentence structures.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to four days per week with approval from your supervisor after the successful completion of your probationary or training period.

    In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.

    If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. PA. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of clerical or correctional custodial experience; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.


Other Requirements:
  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

  • You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
