This job involves managing inmate records at a state prison in Pennsylvania, including collecting and verifying information from various sources, interviewing and photographing inmates, and ensuring legal releases and court transports are handled correctly.

As a Records Specialist 1, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date inmate records within SCI Mahanoy.
Specific duties entail collecting information from various sources to maintain records and cross-referencing information with DOC, Pennsylvania Board of Probation and Parole (PBPP), Pennsylvania State Police (PSP), local and county court, and county prison data to validate content details.
Within this role, you will interview, photograph, and fingerprint inmates upon reception, release, or as needed throughout the duration of confinement, in addition to explaining applicable policies and procedures, and ensuring all necessary information is collected through the interview process.
Additional duties include analyzing inmate cases prior to release to ensure that the release is legal, timely, and that all requirements have been met.
You will also be responsible for coordinating arrangements for the transport of inmates to demanding authorities for court appearances or at the time of release from current sentence.
