Summary

This job involves managing and overseeing military training ranges at a U.S. Army base in Georgia, including planning operations, ensuring safety, and coordinating schedules for training facilities.

*********************THIS IS A TERM POSITION************************ About the Position: The position is located at the Maneuver Center of Excellence (MCoE), Directorate of Plans, Training, Mobility and Security, Ft.

Benning, Ga31905. The "Maneuver Center of Excellence" is located 100 miles south of Atlanta and is adjacent to Columbus, Ga and Phenix City, Al.

The geography and climate are ideal for year round military training.

Current permanent Federal employees (to include permanent Army employees) applying for a Term appointment will be appointed/converted into a Term appointment with no statutory return rights back to a permanent position.

Position may be filled as a Term Appointment NTE 2 years. Term appointments may be extended beyond of six (6) years, up to eight (8) years.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes utilizing range training and range safety regulations, standards, and procedures; and coordinating operations and maintenance of a combined arms multipurpose training range complex.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Business Administration, Human Resources.

OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.

To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12.

Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).

Major Duties:

  • Oversee the operations of a Digital Multipurpose Range Complex (DMPRC) and Combined Arms Collective Training Facility (CACTF)
  • Plan, Manage and Operate Range Complexes, along with provide scheduling.
  • Responsible for the oversight, operations, and facility support activities at the range facility, which include training support, quality assurance, safety, live fire evaluation and range security.
  • Enforce range and training safety procedures for day and night live fire training.
