Base salary range: $56,527 - $73,486
Typical requirements: 1 year specialized experience at GS-9. Advanced degree or significant experience.
Note: Actual salary includes locality pay (15-40%+ depending on location).
This job involves helping to plan and carry out communication efforts for the Missouri Air National Guard, such as creating news releases, responding to media inquiries, and building relationships with community groups to promote the Guard's mission and activities.
It's a temporary role for someone already serving in the Missouri Air National Guard unit.
A good fit would be a military member with strong writing and speaking skills who enjoys working with the public and media to share positive stories about the Guard.
This a National Guard Title 32 Excepted Service Position.
This position is a Temporary GS-1035-11 PUBLIC AFFAIRS SPECIALIST (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D2382000 and is part of the MO 131st Bomb Wing. This is a bargaining position.
SEE NOTES UNDER CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT. MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: Selected candidate must currently be assigned to a military unit in the Missouri Air National Guard.
Title 32 employees will not be militarily senior to their full-time supervisor (grade inversion).
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must possess experience, education, or training in administrative, professional, investigative, and/or technical work that demonstrates your ability to evaluate information and/or utilize analytical skills to disseminate effective communication; and use computers and automation systems.
GS-11 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must possess 36 months of specialized experience, education, or training involving a thorough knowledge of writing and communication principles, methods and techniques that relate to public affairs of the military; developing new information materials including news releases, fact sheets, brochures, booklets, broadcast spots, etc., that increase communication with the agency's audiences; making on-the-spot presentations to audiences with opposing points of view or erroneous understanding of agency positions; and responding timely and appropriately to requests for information concerning agency programs and services.
