This position is located at the SC Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) - Office of Mental Health, Greater Greenville Mental Health Center, 20 Executive Drive, Greer, SC 29651.

Under limited supervision, directs, coordinates, plans and provides psychiatric treatment to clients; provides other related professional medical psychiatric duties in order to assure quality care, maintenance of education, and coordination of therapeutic effort.


Responsibilities for the Psychiatrist:
  • Provide psychiatric evaluations, consultations, and implement psychiatric treatment when the level of care needed so warrants.

  • Supervise interdisciplinary treatment through consultation, education and individual supervision

  • Conduct diagnostic staffings and ongoing treatment team meetings.

  • Adhere to all Corporate Compliance, Outcome Evaluation, Research and Continuity of Care Policies and procedures. Maintain documentation of clinical services in accordance with State/Center/Quality Assurance standards.

  • Provide staff education, medical student and psychiatric resident training, as needed.

Requirements

  • Licensed to practice medicine in South Carolina.
  • Completion of required residency in psychiatry and two (2) years direct patient care.
  • Board certification in psychiatry.

Qualifications

  • Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus.

Additional Information

Post hire, employees must:
  • Be able to pass CPR and Managing Agitation in the Psychiatric Setting (MAPS) Certification.
  • Be licensed to practice medicine in South Carolina.
  • Have thorough knowledge of principles and practices of psychiatric medicines, excellent knowledge of recent development in Psychiatry.
  • Have the ability to practice within a case management system; ability to teach and supervise professional and technical personnel; skill at building work site and external liaisons and coalitions.
