Job Description

Summary

This job involves leading the planning, design, and building of power systems like diesel plants, fuel storage, renewable energy, and electricity distribution in rural Alaska communities.

The role also includes offering technical help and training to ensure these systems run safely and reliably.

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or related field, or Project Management Certification (PMP) preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction, operations, and/or maintenance of power and/or bulk fuel systems
  • Experience managing rural Alaska projects preferred
  • Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Alaska preferred
  • Ability to provide technical assistance and training to rural communities
  • Knowledge of diesel power plants, bulk fuel tank farms, renewable energy systems, and power distribution systems

RURAL ELECTRIC UTILITY WORKER

PROJECT MANAGER

The Project Manager for the Alaska Energy Authority’s Rural Programs - Manage the planning, design, and construction of rural power systems, including diesel power plants, bulk fuel tank farms, renewable energy systems, and power distribution systems. Provide technical assistance and training to rural Alaska communities in order to support the safe and reliable operation and maintenance of bulk fuel tank farms, electrical power generation and distribution systems, and renewable energy systems.

We’re looking for someone who has a Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or related field, or Project Management Certification (PMP) preferred. A minimum of 5 years of experience in the construction, operations, and/or maintenance of power and/or bulk fuel systems. Preference will be given to those with experience managing rural Alaska projects. Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Alaska preferred.

This Position is Exempt and is Not in the Classified Services:
Exempt positions/employees are excluded from title 39, Chapter 25, State Personnel Act and the Personnel Rules adopted under it.
