About the Position: This is a Project Manager, GS-0301-12 position with the U.S.

Army Corps of Engineers, Southwestern Division (SWD), Fort Worth District, Programs and Project Management Division, located in Fort Worth, TX.

To qualify for the GS-12: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) managing a project delivery team, ensuring alignment with standard project management practices; AND 2) creating and managing detailed program or project schedules; AND 3) managing program or project budgets and funds in accordance with organizational requirements.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Time in Grade Requirement for the GS-12: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify.

For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Major Duties:

  • Serve as Project Manager responsible for the overall management, control, coordination, and execution of assigned projects.
  • Implement corporate decisions, guidance, laws, regulations, and policy in the development of the project and intermediate products in support of the project.
  • Responsible for obtaining and maintaining the District's corporate commitment to the management plan.
  • Coordinates the planning, design, cost engineering, construction, etc., for projects of substantial scope and complexity as, measured by the in diversity, geographical location, management demands, technical intricacies, and issues.
  • Controls and manages project milestones and budgets from planning through construction and project turnover.
  • Reviews and analyzes cost reports to assure charges are authorized and appropriate and identifies unauthorized charges and assures corrective actions are taken for the ultimate disposition of inappropriate charges.
  • Reviews project progress measuring performance and taking necessary corrective actions to maintain agreed upon schedule and cost.
  • Represents the District Commander serving as the District's primary point of contact for projects assigned with stakeholder/customer; other external organizations; and higher authorities.
  • Responsible for keeping the stakeholder/customer fully informed of project progress, issues and their resolution, and any impact on costs.
