Summary

This job involves leading family support and recreational programs for military personnel and their families at an Army base in Puerto Rico, including planning activities, managing budgets, and ensuring everything runs smoothly and follows rules.

  • Full managerial authority to plan, direct, and oversee FMWR programs on a multi-mission Army installation
  • Knowledge of Army policies and baseline standards for program compliance
  • Supervisory experience providing technical guidance and administrative oversight to subordinate staff
  • Highly preferred: At least two years in NAF budget management

A qualified candidate must possess the following: One year of specialized experience directly related to the duties described above.

Qualifying experience must have been equivalent to the next lower level in the normal line of progression for a Director FMWR. Experience must reflect multiple FMWR program work.

Highly Preferred: Possess a minimum of two (2) years experience developing and managing a NAF budget to include demonstrated ability to determine resource needs and allocation of resources of both APF and NAF requirements and analysis of financial data.

Applicants meeting the Highly Preferred criteria will be referred first to the Selecting Official. All other applicants may be referred for consideration at managements request. Major Duties:

  • Serves as the Programs Director, Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation (FMWR) for a medium/large garrison with full responsibility and managerial authority to plan and direct FMWR programs on a complex multi-mission Army installation.
  • Directs and oversees FMWR programs activities. Develops organizational vision, goals, plans, and objectives.
  • Ensures programs and activities are managed and operated on a sound financial basis, are in compliance with Army policy, and are consistent with baseline standards.
  • Represents the Garrison Commander for FMWR activities. Serves as the principal advisor and authority on matters impacting the FMWR programs.
  • Provides technical guidance and administrative oversight through direct and indirect supervision of subordinate supervisors and employees.
