Note: Actual salary includes locality pay (15-40%+ depending on location).
This job involves providing everyday administrative and technical help to a home-based primary care program for veterans, including managing records, scheduling, and handling communications.
It acts as the main contact point for the program at a clinic in Chesapeake, Virginia.

Come Join Our Team! The purpose of the Program Support Assistant position is to provide administrative, clerical, & technical support for the Home Based Primary Care (HBPC) program.
The position serves as a point of contact on behalf of the HBPC program for the assigned location.
This position is located within the Veterans Health Administration, Hampton VA Health Care System, North Battlefield VA Clinic, Geriatrics and Extended Care Service (GEC) in Chesapeake, Virginia.

You may qualify based on your experience as described below: GS-07 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the federal service); experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) and other characteristics to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.
Specialized experience includes: experience where you were responsible for providing administrative support functions within a healthcare facility; experienced with procurement processes necessary to obtain goods and services for an office; performing automation duties using such software applications such as word processing, spreadsheet, electronic mail, desktop publishing, calendar, database and/or graphics; assisting in the formulation and execution of budget estimates to include updating budget spreadsheets which are used in briefings; collecting, compiling and tracking data and information; and researching reference materials, regulations, and standards to identify appropriate action necessary to correct problems or issues.
NOTE: Experience must be fully documented on your resume and must include job title, duties, month and year start/end dates AND hours worked per week.
There is no educational substitution for the GS-07 level.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social).
Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

Major Duties:
Duties include but are not limited to: Provides administrative, clerical, and technical support for day-to-day operations within the HBPC program.
Completes special projects in support of policy development and program activities.
Serves as a point of contact on behalf of the HBPC program and takes successive steps to independently resolve conventional issues within the scope of work.
Responsible for managing and maintaining personnel record files. Participates in HBPC Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) meetings by authoring minutes notes.
Maintains calendars and coordinates meetings for HBPC staff and leadership. Prepares memoranda, letters, and other forms of correspondence in final form.
Processes incoming phone calls for HBPC and assures critical calls/needs are forwarded appropriately.
Assist in the creation of spreadsheets, charts, graphical presentations, and other visual aids when needed.
Performs work involving the collection, compilation, and tracking of statistical information involving performance measures, performance Improvement plan, clinical practice guidelines, and clinical data.
Creates excel spreadsheets to track quarterly production reports. Utilizes a variety of computer software programs to maintain internal databases and establishes protocols for incoming data.
Ensures programmatic data collection and tracking is accurate and complete. Responsible for monitoring HBPC re-usable medical equipment including submission of required paperwork for equipment service.
Assist management with maintaining information related to patient risk/priority status and assist with quick execution of HBPC emergency response if a weather event or community situation indicates contact with Veterans in HBPC is necessary as part of the emergency response.
Compiles patient data for quarterly, monthly, and annual reports. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30am - 4:00pm Compressed/Flexible: May be authorized based on supervisory discretion.
