It's a temporary position lasting up to three years at a VA medical center in Palo Alto, California, requiring on-site work.

This position is organizationally under War Related Illness and Injury Study Center (WRIISC), in Psychiatry Service, at the VA Palo Alto Health Care System.
To qualify for this position at the GS-7 level, you must have: At least one (1) full year of specialized experience that equipped you with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties the Program Support Assistant, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled.
To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-6) in the Federal service.
Specialized experience is experience performing administrative/clerical functions in a medical setting to include processing and entering patient demographics and statistics into a database, contacting patients by phone to gather intake information, assisting with reports, and utilizing computer applications to perform work duties.
IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates.
Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities.
Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.

Major Duties:

Term appointments are non-status, nonpermanent appointments of limited duration.
Term employees are eligible to earn leave and generally have the same benefits as permanent employees including health and life insurance, within-grade increases and Federal Employees Retirement System and Thrift Savings Plan coverage.
Term appointments may be extended without further competition (up to the 4-year maximum).

Major Duties: Performs clerical, administrative and technical program support work for the service. Makes travel arrangements, prepares and submits travel documents for staff members.
Performs timekeeping duties for the service. Communicates effectively both verbally and in writing with individuals from a variety of backgrounds.
Handles conflict and problems in dealing with customers, constructively and appropriately. Works both independently and as a member of a team.
Types a variety of documents into final form, ensuring correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, format and style.
Utilizes a computer and applications to extract pertinent data and prepare a variety of reports. Utilizes a range of software applications (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) to prepare correspondence.
Plans, organizes, and establishes priorities while meeting time constraints.
Maintains an automated system of program-specific data to track suspense dates on project milestones, progress reports, funding accomplishments, and compliance strategies.
Schedules meetings, transcribes minutes, gathers reports, and tracks actions for committees.
