Summary

This job involves helping people leaving prison reintegrate into society by providing counseling, assessing their needs, teaching skills like financial literacy and job searching, and connecting them with community resources for housing and employment.

Full Job Description

  • Under the supervision of the Division Director of Reentry, this position provides counseling, case management and coordinates community referrals.
  • The incumbent is responsible for assessing the current needs of the returning citizens.
  • Builds strong alliances in the community with entities dedicated to employment readiness.
  • Incumbent will teach financial literacy classes and assist other institutions, where needed, statewide.
  • Incumbent provides career counseling and job search techniques.
  • Incumbent will also maintain knowledge of community resources and provide mentoring and assistance to returning citizens to assist with successful reintegration.
  • Coordinates referrals to community-based organizations that will provide needed services to returning citizens transitioning into the community.
  • Ensures strong alliances in the community with agencies and organizations dedicated to employment readiness.
  • Develops plans to increase well-being and stability, i.e. homelessness, unemployment, housing.
  • Responsible for assessing the needs of the inmate.
  • Assist in the development, delivery, implementation, and evaluation of agency sanctioned programs and program specialized housing.
  • This may include assisting in the development of policy to establish standardized principles and procedures.
  • Assist Division of Programs with the development and implementation of specialized programs.
  • Complete and submit assigned monthly reports as requested.
  • Conduct program specific lectures/instructions, oversees institutional programs.
  • Develops and implements pre-release case plans in collaboration with the inmate, identifying discharge outcomes and potential intervention strategies, ensuring that inmate confidentiality and inmates rights are maintained.
  • This position is located in Trenton CI.
Must successfully complete four (4) weeks of SCDC Basic Training upon hire.
