This job is for a lieutenant overseeing security and staff at a work release center for inmates, ensuring everything runs smoothly and safely.
It involves checking on staff performance, handling inmate counts, investigating issues, and maintaining clean facilities.
A good fit would be someone with experience in corrections or security who can lead a team and stay calm under pressure.
Under general supervision, plans, coordinates and directs the actions of the security staff and oversees security, custody and control of inmates in an institution.
Assumes primary responsibility for all buildings and public property.
Makes routine checks of the unit(s) to ensure subordinate staff are performing their duties properly and safely, and that cleanliness and OSHA standards are maintained.
Assists with all inmates count for accuracy.
Investigates complaints and violations; arbitrates disputes among inmate population and correctional staff.
Must successfully complete eight (8) weeks of SCDC Basic Training upon hire.

A high school diploma and relevant experience. A bachelor’s degree in a related field may substitute for the required experience.
