The Agency Ombudsman will respond to members of the general public, particularly parents, concerning their inquiries or complaints about public education in South Carolina.

They act as a cheerful and capable connector between callers and local schools and school districts.

They initiate contact with schools and districts as needed and obtain relevant information from appropriate staff at the South Carolina Department of Education.

As directed, they respond to letters and emails to the South Carolina Department of Education concerning educational issues.

They will manage the agency's constituent case management system, providing oversight to policy adherence and following up with staff members who owe pending responses.

They serve as the procurement liaison for the Office of Communications, initiating purchase orders when needed.


This position is located in the Office of Communications.

Requirements

A high school diploma and relevant program experience.

Qualifications

At least two years of full-time experience in customer service and/or constituent outreach.
