This job involves providing nutrition counseling, breastfeeding support, and food benefits to women, infants, and children in areas of Alaska without local WIC programs, including places like Fairbanks and Southeast Alaska.
You'll also handle outreach to boost participation, monitor grocery stores for compliance, and process applications.

Breastfeeding Education and Counseling - Knowledge of lactation, human milk, and breastfeeding to promote, educate, and counsel on the health and nutritional benefits of breastfeeding.
Understands impacts of pregnancy, post-partum, and lactation to provide individualized assessments and group counseling on nutrition, breastfeeding, and health issues.
If an applicant does not meet the definition of a WIC Competent Professional Authority (CPA), the applicant will be required to obtain this credential through the State of Alaska (SOA) WIC CPA training program within nine months of hire.
A WIC CPA is an employee of the local WIC program authorized to assess program eligibility, determine nutritional risk, provide nutrition education and counseling, and prescribe supplemental foods.
