The Alcohol and Marijuana Control Office (AMCO) is recruiting for an Administrative Officer 1 position.

This recruitment is open to Alaska residents only.

What you will be doing:

Under the direction of the Director, you will serve as the administrative officer for the Alcohol & Marijuana Control Office. You will lead a team of two administrative assistants and be a contributor to the successful management of the office. The administrative unit fully supports the Director, Enforcement, Education and Outreach, and Licensing teams. Excellent management and communication skills are a must to ensure the successful operation of the office. You will manage the financial functions of AMCO and participate in the management and decision-making processes. Duties assigned include oversight of administrative functions, purchasing and procurement, budget development, financial and accounting management, payroll, personnel management, travel, website maintenance and updates, and developing administrative policies as requested.

In your role you will be an essential part of the administrative and leadership team. Your responsibilities are crucial to the day-to-day operations. Ability to handle a high stress, multilayered environment is necessary. Accountability for all assigned tasks is required. The office relies on the administrative team for full office and mission support.

The working conditions you can expect:

The position directly supervises two administrative assistants and is currently located in Anchorage in the State of Alaska Atwood building.

We are located on the 16th floor with a spectacular view of the inlet, close to the park strip for those summer walks, and within walking distance to various eating establishments.

There is plenty of free covered parking in the garage.

  • Oral and Written Communication: Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral and written presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.

Equivalent to those typically gained by:
Any combination of preparatory post-secondary education and/or experience providing administrative support to a business or organization, business administration, public administration, finance, banking, accounting, industrial relations, marketing, human resource management, logistics and supply chain management, or a similar business field.
