This position is located in the Policy and Analysis Division (PAD).
PAD provides expert analysis, policy, and staff support on all aspects and matters related to cross-cutting integration of general PFPA policies, pertinent legislation, as well as programmatic implications of DoW authorization bills.
In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the requirements described below.
You may qualify at the GS-12 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement: One year of experience in the same or similar work equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-11) requiring application of the knowledge, skills, and abilities of the positions being filled.
Candidates for this position must clearly demonstrate in their resume that they possess specialized experience in 1) applying analytical and evaluative methods and techniques to a broad range of law enforcement, emergency management, and security areas; 2) mastery of the Planning, Programming, Budgeting, and Execution System and other DoW resourcing and strategic management processes and systems; 3) ability to organize the efforts of multiple subject matter experts and overcome significant resistance to proposed new policies and guidance.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).
You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Incumbent typical work assignments may include the following: The employee serves as a Policy Analyst and a consultant for PAD for a broad spectrum of areas ranging from national security policy, emerging doctrine and issues, organizational design, force structure and management, and congressional activities.
Identifies issues of contemporary and future impact on the Agency and conducts analysis of their implications and alternatives.
The employee synthesizes information provided across the OSD and Director, Administration and Management (DA&M) staff as well as from NORTHCOM and other sources external to the Agency to enable the Division Director, PAD, and Agency management to quickly discern key facts and linkages among issues that impact the Agency.
Serves as a PFPA expert, recognized spokesperson, and advisor to the Division Director, PAD, for assigned congressional areas.
Develops presentations, briefings, speeches, and articles for presentation by the Director, PFPA.
