Job Description

Summary

This job involves creating videos, photos, and other visual content to communicate Navy information to the public, media, and internal teams, including planning projects from script to final distribution.

A good fit would be someone with hands-on experience in video production, editing, and media coordination who enjoys working on educational and promotional materials in a government setting.

It's ideal for creative professionals skilled in storytelling through visuals and comfortable collaborating with journalists and social media platforms.

Key Requirements

  • At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-12 (for GS-13) or GS-11 (for GS-12) in audiovisual production, including scripting, directing, filming, editing, and finalizing products for education, training, or entertainment.
  • Proficiency in principles, practices, methods, and techniques of audiovisual communication to effectively convey information.
  • Experience engaging with broadcast media representatives, public affairs professionals, websites, and social media.
  • Ability to initiate, plan, coordinate, and execute audiovisual projects for public and specialized audiences.
  • Skills in operating as producer, director, camera operator, lighting technician, sound recordist, scriptwriter, editor, video graphics specialist, and set designer.
  • Expertise in photography, including acting as principal still photographer, training others, and staying current with audiovisual technology.
  • Capability to establish and maintain a video library with database indexing, plus duplicating and disseminating visual materials.

Full Job Description

You will serve as a AUDIOVISUAL PRODUCTION SPECIALIST in the Office of Strategic Communications (OSC) of NCIS. All Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) positions are in the excepted service.

This position is in the excepted service and does not confer competitive status. This job opportunity announcement has a first cut-off 50 applicants.

GS-13 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: mastering of the principles, practices, methods, and techniques of audiovisual communication to effectively communicate information through the creation, scripting, directing, filming, editing, and finalizing of audiovisual products for a range of uses, including entertainment, public education, and training and development; and Engaging professionally with broadcast media representatives and public affairs professionals and working with websites and social media.

  • You will perform related work such as, but not limited to, all aspects of photography, such as acting as a principal still photographer, trains/mentors others and stays abreast of audiovisual technology changes.
  • You will establish and maintain a video library with a database index for easy access while duplicating and disseminating in-house visual information productions and other video material to field.
